I need to get better pictures of these things. His face looks like schmutz. Actually all of it kind of does. Argh.

Another Girl

Another Girl
Ink on Bristol Paper
2.5"x3.5" framed original, $30
Life really can be that easy I guess. Yes. This is actually the card for this song.
Dear____,
I hope that you and ____ are happy. I hope that she gives you everything that I couldn't. I hope that she makes enough money for you. I hope she's as good in bed. I hope she is happy with the lies she told. And I hope you are happy with someone that manipulates and plays games. Im glad you settled for her.

All Ive Got To Do

All Ive Got To Do
Colored Pencil on Acrylic Paper
3.5"x2.5" framed original, $30
I am acutely aware of the fact that I cant draw realistic looking people, but I tried I guess. Somehow I kept thinking of Raiders of the Lost Ark and the swapping of the sand bag thing for the little gold idol guy. So. Apple for the Beatles. Indy because I said so.

Do You Want To Know A Secret

Do You Want To Know A Secret
Ink on Acrylic Paper
2.3"x3.5" framed original, $30

Apparently this song was inspired by the first line in 'Im Wishing' from Snow White. Johns mom used to sing it to him when he was little. I ALMOST made it Snow White themed. But this seemed way better.

All Together Now

All Together Now
Ink on Bristol Paper
2.5"x3.5" framed original, $30
On January 24th 1962, the Beatles signed Brian Epstein as their manager. He fine-tuned their image from the leather jacket wearing rebel kids to the clean cut, suit and tie wearing 'Beatles' that everyone was first mass exposed to. This Card is for those early days.

Cry For A Shadow

Cry For A Shadow
Ink on Watercolor Paper
2.5"x3.5" framed original, $30

Another day of girly feelings getting in the way but oh how childhood memories make me feel better!!! This song was chosen for the song title today, but I cant think of a better image when mentioning missing shadows, than Peter Pan.

While My Sitar Gently Weeps

While My Sitar Gently Weeps
Ink and Graphite on Watercolor Paper
2.5"x3.5" framed original, $30

This song was written by George Harrison so I figured what better time to give him his own Card. Immediately I thought of the reference to Picasso's Blue Period but I wasnt sure how to make it fit George. In the middle of drawing the figure and setting it up simply trying to make it George, I had that little light bulb in my head start screaming at me, and it became a sitar instead. I almost made it 'While My Sitar Gently Weeps.' Wait Im claiming that idea right now. Copyright!!!

Ok, I changed it. 'This is now While My Sitar Gently Weeps.' (It started off as 'For You Blue')

Misery

Misery
Ink and Graphite on Bristol Paper
2.5"x3.5" framed original, $30
Somehow the only thing that was popping in to my head at the time was Kathy Bates with a sledge hammer and poor James Caans feet? Oh Dirty Bird. . .

From Me To You

From Me To You
Ink and Graphite on Bristol Paper
2.5"x3.5" framed original, $30

So I was thinking about the Trojan horse for some reason? And then somehow Star Wars got attached to it and I love the AT-ATs because they are like big lazy dogs. So the Battle at Hoth just became the hilariously obvious idea for From Me To You.

Dont Let Me Down

Dont Let Me Down
Ink and Graphite on Canvas Paper
3.5"x2.5" framed original, $30
5.5"x4.25" glossy postcard, $3
5.5" x 4.25" 100% Recycled matte postcard, $3

Another Card dedicated to my girly feelings today. Still on my Star Wars kick, this scene spoke to the song I think, I guess because she was putting all her faith in the lil guy.

You Really Got A Hold On Me

You Really Got A Hold On Me
Ink on Bristol Paper
3.5"x2.5" framed original, $30

My private life was completely behind why I chose this Card today. Im one of those people that listens to lyrics, a lot of times it helps define my favorite songs. So I needed to make my 'owwie' insides smile. LEGOs (and Star Wars) ALWAYS WORK!!!

Real Love

Real Love
Ink and Graphite on Bristol Paper
2.5"x3.5" framed original, $30
Although most people are not huge fans of Yoko Ono, you have to admit that she provided half of one of the most amazing love stories ever.
A bit of Beatles folklore that I was in love with before this Card: John went to one of Yokos shows and in a room was a ladder that lead to small painting on the ceiling, it looked like a blank canvas with a small spyglass hanging from it. Once he reached the top he held the spyglass to the painting and in small letters it read, 'yes.'

It's Only Love

Real Love
Ink on Watercolor Paper
2.5"x3.5" framed original, $30

I cant really explain this one. It goes along with the others that are playing with different art movements. Its modern. Its minimal. Its only love.

All You Need Is Love

All You Need Is Love
Ink and Colored Pencil on Bristol Paper
2.5"x3.5" framed original, $30

So yes, All You Need IS Love. And thats all the Card needed too. There are elements of it that you cant see in the photograph though. In the background some of my favorite lyrics are written in white pencil. You have to look at it from different perspectives, but no matter what angle you look at from, even if the background isnt visible, LOVE is always there =)

"Nothing you can be but you can learn how to be you in time"
"Theres nowhere you can be that isnt where youre meant to be"

Carry That Weight

Carry That Weight
Acrylic and Ink on Canvas Paper
2.5"x3.5" framed original, $30

Atlas came to mind pretty much right away. And for some reason, some type of cubism-ish made sense. Marcel Duchamps 'Nude Descending a Staircase No. 2' has always been a favorite of mine.

Yesterday

Yesterday
Graphite on Bristol Paper
2.5"x3.5" framed original, $30
This is a beautifully simple song and it was almost all Paul. So it was only fair that this be his Card, done in a very simple way. Eyes can express so much regret.

Taste Of Hunny

Taste of Hunny
Ink on Acrylic Paper
2.5"x3.5" framed original, $30
Something screamed 'Winnie the Pooh!' at me as soon as I read the title of the song. I hadnt planned on doing a play on words for any of the titles, but its artistic license right?

Not gonna lie. I cant believe how well this one came out and how much it makes me smile almost to the point of bursting my seams and having my stuffings pop out =)

Yellow Submarine

Yellow Submarine
Ink and Acrylic on Acrylic Paper
2.5"x3.5" framed original, $30
Im not sure why, maybe something to do with all the bright colors and imagery that are usually part of this song, but I wanted something simple. I still wanted 'striking' contrast though because i heart it so much. So. Sky of blue over our inexplicably cute, 'Yellow Submarine'

Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds

Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds
Ink on Bristol Paper
2.5"x3.5" framed original, $30
Trying to avoid all of the obvious and easy ways for me to do this card I came up with art nouveau! Huzzah! So there you have it, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds complete with tangerine trees and flowers that grow so incredibly high. (I couldnt make 'the sun in her eyes' so I made the flowers orange irises, get it? *shoulder nudge,* shoulder nudge)

Norwegian Wood

Norwegian Wood
Acrylic, Ink and Glaze on Acrylic Paper
2.5"x3.5" framed original, $30
This song is amazing and beautiful and so sad because its ultimately about John cheating on his wife and trying to tell her without actually telling her. But it ends with the house being burned down. I love acrylic glazes, so fire seemed like a good place to use it.

Octopus's Garden

Octopus's Garden
Ink on Bristol paper
2.5"x3.5" framed original, $30
Trying to avoid obvious ideas for this Card as well as exploring new styles, I have been meaning to do a Pointillist octopus for a while now. So it made sense. Initially it was going to be in color, then the pointillism kicked in and I was happy with it as is. Plus Johns glasses are down there somewhere =)

A Hard Days Night (Of The Living Dead)

A Hard Days Night (Of The Living Dead)
Ink on Bristol Paper
2.5"x3.5" framed original, $30

There was a maniacal laugh involved in this one. I cant say it turned out exactly as Id hoped, but zombies are always great and I love the idea of using their exact pose while they were running, but having Paul jump over an angry zombie hand.
And a huge thank you to a friend of mine for mentioning the title after I did the 'I Saw Her Standing There' Card. If only the entire series could be zombie themed. . .

Julia

Julia
Ink on Bristol Paper
2.5"x3.5" framed original, $30
*Insert really bad Julia Childs impression here* I love how happy she looked even when she was holding up huge knives or trying to hack through an entire untrimmed hunk of beef. And she always had to touch and poke whatever it was she was cooking. So great.

Lovely Rita

Lovely Rita
Ink and Graphite on Acrylic Paper
2.5"x3.5" framed original, $30
Not gonna lie, Im not even close to happy with this Card. Rita Hayworth deserves more. But I learned really quickly not to ink tiny faces. It doesnt work out well.

I Saw Her Standing There

I Saw Her Standing There
Ink on Acrylic Paper
2.5"x3.5" framed original, $30
4.25"x5.5" glossy postcard, $3
4.25" x 5.5" 100% recycled matte postcard, $3

Honestly, the idea for this Card is what really motivated me to start this project. The idea of a zombie guy 'pining' over a woman, even if its just to eat some brains, got me to the point of laughing oh so hard. And I pretty much laughed my way through the whole thing (even the photos of myself making 'zombie faces' and 'zombie hands' for references).

Official New Year. Official New Blog/Project

Hello, Goodbye
Ink on Acrylic Paper
2.5"x3.5" framed original, SOLD
In an effort to make myself a more productive human being, both creatively and societally (and creating new words in the making) I have decided to challenge myself to a drawing a day for the year 2012. Some people may find this a much easier venture than I do, but I have a tendency to get frustrated and refuse to finish things. If this were not already a big enough venture for me, I have decided to make the end goal the completion of my Beatles Artist Trading Card Series. The idea started after I did the 'Hello, Goodbye' (on the right)card for a show in New York and has yet to be realized. So here we go. One card, every day, for the rest of my life. Or until I run out of Beatles songs.
